Annual Jumbo Pass Hike A Success!
Blue skies, wildflowers and 360 degree views of the mountains and glaciers greeted us as we headed up to the Jumbo Pass. On August 20, we went out on our annual pilgrimage to celebrate the wild Jumbo Valley. We were honoured to spend time at the Ktunaxa Nation’s Qat’muk camp and to hike together in solidarity and friendship. It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, story-telling, wildflowers and new connections. Together, we will Keep Jumbo Wild forever!

The last few months have been amazing for Jumbo and there is lots to celebrate. In June of 2015, the Environmental Assessment Certificate for Jumbo Glacier Resort expired and the BC Minister of the Environment ruled that the project "has not been substantially started." In October of 2015, Sweetgrass Productions released the documentary Jumbo Wild to international acclaim. What’s the status of the Jumbo Resort?
There's lots going on with Jumbo Wild -- here's the latest:The Environmental Certificate for the JGR was cancelled in June 2015. One year later, this decision still stands. As of today, GRL has no legal right to carry out construction in the Jumbo Valley. Glacier Resorts filed a judicial review in December of 2015 to challenge this decision - this case has not yet been heard in court.The Ktunaxa Nation's legal case will be heard in the Supreme Court of Canada in December 2016. They allege the approval of the Jumbo Glacier Resort infringes on their Charter Rights ...
